Fred Tarr, resident of Ft. Thomas, KY since 1989,late fifties, single again, MA graduate of the University of Iowa School of Art 1968; received an MFA in studio art Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, 1971; taught at locations in the Mid-west and at Rutgers in the 70's. Employment as a contract freight inspector lead to opportunities for travel. I was based in Cincinnati in early 80's and reported to district offices in Chicago and Pasadena , TX. Currently employed in the transportation industry.

I developed a large studio space located on Monmouth street in Newport KY for three years in the early 90's. I made large format drawings, some painting and installation sculpture pieces reflecting for me a growing interest in deconstructionist theory of architecture embraced by European artists and architects working in Belgium, Amsterdam, and West Germany. Began a rational for sculptural development based on architectural co-op efforts in East Germany recently come to light after the exchange of information through the unification of central East/West Germany became a reality in the early 90's.

Published art writings with Pociao, editor and owner of Pociao's Books, Herwarthstrasse 27, Bonn, (ADR )Germany in late 80's. Influences early on are mainly art historical in the context of art works relating to the period they were made in and the impact of formal composition in the respective works in regard to the development of my aesthetic. I am simply amazed by some works of art made over the last three centuries. And I count it all joy to see them again and again. I began by looking at Giotto.the St. Francis' panel masters, Berlingheri cross masters, Cimabue.Cezanne, Jules Pascin, Jackson Pollock, A. Gottlieb, Patrick Proctor, Patrick Heron, etc. the list goes on and for different and varied reasons. Later, I looked at art works and studied artists from Die Brucke, and COBRA schools.

An associates degree in Business Financial Management from Cincinnati State,Technical, and Community College in 1995 found me emphasizing business writing in management, marketing courses, and human resource management. A recent re-write of several books of poems and longer narrative works encourages me to look for publication in the South, in the eastern US and in Europe.

After ten consecutive years working and exhibiting in Cincinnati, I maintain a studio at my home in Ft. Thomas, KY and continue various directions through two and three dimensional expression in drawing, painting, and some installation sculpture. I have about 20 archival works of original drawings using the incisive media of pencil, ink stylus, brush and other applications of color. These archival pieces are framed and have been assigned prices of$3000 and up. And I have developed 45 -50 other drawings and have some paintings of a contemporary expressionist nature on hand as well. For appointments, call the gallery locations exhibiting my work from recent exhibitions. I will list these accordingly by request.
